This open mic is held the 3rd or 4th Monday of each month (check The Freight's website). $5 door for everyone.

This open mic is another one of the West Coast Songwriters (formerly the NCSA) open mic events. Translation: more formal in inclination than other open mics. In other words, at this event you can win 3 hours of studio time at Studio 48D (in Brisbane) and possibly go on to play for music industry execs. Each night, guest judges grant an award for "Best Song" and "Best Performance."

My gut tells me that charging in at an "open" mic somehow makes it less "open," but, on the other hand, the Freight is a great venue usually reserved for very big acts and this event could take your music places.

The other WCS open mics are third Tuesdays in Santa Clara at Blue Rock Shoot and 3rd Fridays at Coffee Catz in Sebastopol or second Thursdays in The City at Cafe Royale

The Freight also hosts its own open mic.
