Viva la dive bar! The self-proclaimed "most elegant dive bar in Berkeley," was founded in (and kept in the family since) 1953, and is one of the last Berkeley dive bars along the San Pablo Avenue corridor. The next generation has taken over management of the Missouri Lounge and has introduced this open mic on wednesdays and I added it to the calendar first back in July of 2006. It closed for years around the pandemic, but then opened with tears and great fanfare in 2024. Paul Pot draws some amazing flyers for the event on his Instagram, even when he's stuck in Florida looking after his mom and The Out of Town Couple are covering hosting duties.
